Commencing on the 9th May 2022 Dubai International Airport OMDB began its Northern Runway Rehabilitation (NRR). Throughout the period 9th May to 22nd June 2022 runway 12L / 30R is closed for rehabilitation and improvement works.
The Arabian vACC will be simulating this closure on VATSIM. On the 15th May, Dubai will be staffed from bottom to top by our team of controllers starting at 1400z until 1700z. With only one runway for both arrivals and departures and a fully packed airspace. The event will test both the controller and the pilots.
Experience a busy airspace and enjoy the view on the final approach of departing aircraft getting ready for take-off, and a short line of aircraft holding short of the runway. Make sure you bring some extra fuel and anticipate small delays as you watch aircraft land.
