The VFR-Night is all about flying by sight. Every sixth Friday from 18:30z to 21:00z, controllers open selected airports within FIR Bremen, bringing real VFR excitement to the VATSIM network.

This time, the VFR-Night takes you to the Harz Mountains. Stunning mid-mountain landscapes meet charming small towns and diverse flight opportunities – the perfect area for exciting yet relaxed VFR flights. Braunschweig (EDVE), Kassel (EDVK), Magdeburg (EDBM), Bad Gandersheim (EDVA), Northeim (EDVN), Eichsfeld (EDBE), and Oschersleben (EDOI) will be staffed. Whether flying along the Harz ridges, circling the Brocken massif, or gliding through the Weserbergland valleys, experience VFR flying at its best.

The location changes each event: sometimes the coast, sometimes flatlands, or – like now – the mid-mountains with dense forests, hills, and historic towns. Each VFR-Night stays varied, challenging, and full of discoveries.

From short hops between airports, scenic Harz tours, evening pattern work, to relaxed navigation flights through valleys – VFR-Night has something for every VFR pilot. It’s also a perfect chance to improve your visual navigation and communication skills through mentoring programs.

So fuel up your aircraft, plan your route through the Harz, and experience the thrill of VFR flying in one of Central Germany’s most beautiful regions at the next FIR Bremen VFR-Night.
