Dear Pilots. After our successful first edition of the EUD-Discovery event, we located ourselves more inland. This month's shuttle is between ELLX Luxembourg and LOWS Salzburg Airport.

Luxembourg Airport is famously known for a lot of reasons. It is the only airport in Luxembourg, the runway being one of the longest in Europe (4km long), and the slope at the threshold of runway 06 makes a smooth touchdown more difficult. Although a relatively low-capacity airport, it's also known as Luxair and Cargolux Hub Airport. This means that heavy 747s and slower dash-8s fly in the airspace, making it more difficult. Due to the low radar coverage, 5NM separation must be provided between aircraft in the air. Briefing

Salzburg Airport is also a fascinating airport. Firstly, it's home to the Flying Bulls, who operate many exciting aircraft, for example, the famous DC6. Their home, Hangars 7 and 8, are also lovely place to visit! Salzburg also sees quite a bit of commercial, executive and training flights. However, due to the mountainous terrain, Salzburg Airport is way busier during winter, as many ski-charter flights operate then. The airport has more significant terrain issues than Luxembourg. When landing on runway 15, You'll have a beautiful view of the mountains in front, but when landing on runway 33, a standard ILS Approach is not possible, thus requiring you to fly either a Circle-To-Land or RNP Approach, which can be pretty challenging.
