Get ready for the latest challenge in VATSIM's Elite Wings series! This edition will take you on an exhilarating journey from Islamabad (OPIS) to Skardu (OPSD).
VATSIM Pakistan is thrilled to welcome pilots to the breathtaking region of Northern Pakistan, specifically Skardu! Skardu International Airport is well known for its challenging approaches and is famous for some of the most stunning scenic views in the world. As you approach Skardu, enjoy the majestic sight of Nanga Parbat, the world’s 9th highest mountain, along with many other towering peaks and beautiful lakes blanketed in snow.
The Skardu approach requires navigating SVFR procedures as you descend while flying visually by following the valley through the famous ZULU Bend. The valley can get congested, leading to higher wait times, so carry extra fuel and ensure thorough briefings for this complex approach. If weather conditions are unfavorable or cloud cover is heavy, the approach can become even more demanding. There is no room for error if you cannot safely continue, you may need to divert back to Islamabad. We look forward to welcoming you to this challenging yet stunning destination! Prepare well and enjoy the ride as our controllers are ready to provide you with top-notch service throughout your flight.
Mark your calendars for 4 January, from 1200-1530z, and join us for this thrilling one-way flight from Islamabad to the heart of the mountains of Pakistan!
To ensure a fun and smooth afternoon for pilots and controllers alike, slots are required! Pilots without a booked flight can and will be delayed. Book at booking.vatsim.net. To give everyone a chance to participate, regardless of their timezone, the event location rotates each month, covering different regions around the world.
