Take a virtual tour around Sydney in a light aircraft, flying the low level VFR Coastal Route known as Victor 1. This route goes past Sydney Heads, past the famous Bondi Beach and under the approach to the busy Sydney Kingsford Smith International Airport.
You will also have the option of flying a Sydney Harbour Scenic flight right up to the famous Sydney Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House.
The event runs from 0830z - 1030z. We recommend planning to depart before 0930z. Flights depart and arrive at Bankstown (YSBK) airport, the main General Aviation airport for Sydney. The route is approximately 110 nautical miles and should take approximately 1 hour in a Cessna 172 or similar aircraft, slightly quicker in an aircraft such as a Piper Comanche or Cirrus SR22. Twin engine and turboprop aircraft are not recommended.
Pilots have the option of flying either clockwise via Victor 1 South (with optional Sydney Harbour Scenic flight) or anticlockwise via Victor 1 North. These flights are described in separate pilot briefings. It is essential that you read the pilot briefing from the link below to understand the procedures for flying Victor 1 and Harbour Scenic.
